Expanding European Reach With the addition of Madrid, Sichuan Airlines now offers direct service to seven Spanish cities, further strengthening its European presence. The airline currently serves Istanbul, Moscow, Rome, and St. Petersburg as part of its growing European network.
The expansion of Chinese airlines in Europe is largely driven by their access to Russian airspace, enabling shorter flight routes and lower operational costs. While many European carriers have reduced their China services, airlines such as China Southern, Juneyao Airlines, and Hainan Airlines have grown their networks, adding new routes to Milan, Budapest, Brussels, and Vienna.
