Philippine low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific has been named the Best Airline at the 2025 Routes Asia Awards, held recently in Perth, Australia. The prestigious award recognizes outstanding contributions to route development and tourism growth in the Asia Pacific region.
The Routes Asia Awards celebrate excellence in the airline, airport, and tourism sectors, highlighting organizations that have made significant strides in expanding connectivity and driving regional tourism.
In response to the recognition, Cebu Pacific President Xander Lao expressed gratitude for the award, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to accessible air travel and its growing presence in key markets. “This recognition reflects the strength of our network strategy and, more importantly, the partnerships we’ve built with our airport partners and stakeholders,” Lao said in a statement on April 2.
Strategic Growth and Expansion
The airline’s growth trajectory in 2024 showcased its expanding network, with Cebu Pacific launching 28 new routes, including 19 domestic and nine international services. New destinations such as Chiang Mai, Kaohsiung, and Sapporo were added to the roster, further connecting travelers to popular regional spots.
In addition to expanding its routes, Cebu Pacific strengthened its presence with new hubs in Davao and Iloilo, complementing its established bases in Manila, Cebu, and Clark.
Further enhancing its regional appeal, Cebu Pacific also rolled out the Fly to Happy, Fly to the Philippines! campaign, aimed at attracting more visitors to the country’s natural attractions and cultural experiences.
Fleet Modernization and Future Plans
In a historic move, Cebu Pacific placed a monumental order for 152 Airbus aircraft, marking the largest such purchase in Philippine aviation history. This strategic investment is designed to modernize the airline’s fleet and position it to meet the growing demand for air travel across its network.
Currently, Cebu Pacific operates flights to 37 domestic and 26 international destinations, spanning regions across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. The airline continues to focus on broadening its connectivity and enhancing travel options for passengers.
